I cannot not remember any president who has talked down the economy the way that President Obama seems to be doing. Granted, he wants to get legislation passed. But does he realize the importance of hope and fear in times of crisis?
Normally presidents are reluctant to even use the word recession in fear that they will make the situation worse. He keeps stressing comparisons to the Great Depression. Doesn't he worry that the rhetoric can have consequences?
